WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is offered as a two-day course and is aimed at those working in the hospitality or wine retail sector or wine lovers seeking more formal wine education. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings.
The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 30 multiple choice questions, to be completed in 45 minutes. This is an accredited course and all candidates who successfully complete the examination are awarded the WSET Level 1 Award in Wine certificate and lapel pin.

Course enrolment for WSET Level 1 Award in Wines closes one week prior to course commencement date. Please get in touch if you would like to enrol in a course with less than one week’s notice.
Please note: no refunds will be issued within 5 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if The Geelong Wine School cancels. Please note there is a re-sit exam fee of $150 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
